We are more than a week into early voting — and fewer than 1,000 people have shown up in Jefferson County.
Let that sink in. Out of everyone in this community, fewer than one thousand people have walked through the door, cast a ballot, and made their voice heard. That’s not just low turnout. That’s a vacuum — and vacuums get filled by whoever does bother to show up.
This Election Will Be Decided by a Handful of People
Primary elections are different from general elections. Fewer people vote, which means every single ballot carries more weight. We’re not talking about millions of votes where yours might feel like a drop in the ocean. We’re talking about hundreds — maybe a few thousand — deciding who leads, who serves, and who sets the agenda for everyone else.
Everyone. Including you. Including your neighbors who won’t vote. Including your kids.
The people who win primaries go on to shape policy, make budgets, and run institutions that touch your daily life — your roads, your schools, your local services. And right now, those decisions are being handed over to a tiny sliver of your community by default.
Early Voting Exists for a Reason
You don’t have to rearrange your whole day. Early voting was designed to make this easier. You can go before work, after errands, on a lunch break. There’s no line on Election Day to worry about, no last-minute scramble. You just go, vote, and it’s done.
Less than 1,000 people have taken advantage of that. You could be number 1,001.
Don’t Hand Your Power to Someone Else
It’s tempting to think primaries don’t matter, that the “real” election comes later. But by the time the general rolls around, the choices have already been narrowed down for you — by the people who showed up to the primary.
Don’t let strangers make that decision on your behalf.
Go vote. Vote in the primary. Your community needs to hear from more than just a few thousand people.
Early voting is open now. Thursday to Saturday 9AM-5PM at 393 N Lawrence St, Charles Town, WV 25414 cast your ballot before Election Day which is May 12th.
